The Netherlands is known for its many incredible cultural venues, with over 140 museums in its capital city alone. Each year we recognize the venues that truly stand out. This year’s Remarkable Venue Awards (RVAs) featured nominees for Best Museum, Best Attraction, Best Family Attraction, and Most Remarkable Venue.
The winners were selected based on customer reviews (Tiqets users visited Dutch museums and attractions over 80,000 times during the last year), and a panel of Tiqets cultural experts who looked out for venues providing fantastic visitor experiences.
All nominated venues joined us at the brand new Tiqets office for a view of Amsterdam’s skyline, food and drinks generously supplied by Heineken and Henri Willig, and insightful presentations from industry leaders like Luke Reilly from The View From the Shard, a 2019 London RVA winner.
Here are the Dutch winners of the 2019 Most Remarkable Venue Awards.
The Most Remarkable Venue award goes to up-and-coming venues who are growing quickly on Tiqets by doing something genuinely, well, remarkable. Moco reviews lavish praise on the museum for its easy smartphone entry, fascinating exhibitions, and excellent crowd management.
“I had a wonderful time at the Moco Museum for Banksy’s exhibit. It was my 2nd time to ever visit a museum and I really enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and other travelers who are planning to visit Holland.” – Angelica, United Arab Emirates

There are so many inspirational museums in the Netherlands that picking favorites is nearly impossible. This year, it was Museum het Rembrandthuis who took the prize, with glowing visitor feedback about their insightful audio guide and etching demonstrations. A remarkable venue in the purest sense of the term, the museum is actually set within the former home of the great painter himself!
“Brilliant experience. Free audio guides were detailed and informative. Rooms were beautiful and immersive. The printing and etching demonstration was a major highlight. Would recommend to everyone who comes to Amsterdam.” – Douglas, Australia
Full list of nominees: Moco, Rijksmuseum, Rembrandthuis, Kröller-Müller Museum
With universally positive reviews on Tiqets, THIS IS HOLLAND is one of our most unique partner venues. Offering a 5D flight through the beauty of the Netherlands, this Amsterdam-based attraction lets people see the entire country (including its stunning tulip fields) regardless of the weather. Visitors and locals alike were consistently blown away by the simulated flight experience, with the most common description being “amazing”.
“A must-do experience for visitors!” – Ray, the Netherlands

While any of the above nominees would make for a great family day out, there could only be one winner. ARTIS has proven itself to be at the forefront of zoos both domestically and abroad, and its educational approach to wildlife conservation as well as its huge popularity with visitors helped make it this year’s Best Family Attraction.
“Lovely layout and well incorporated within the green space. Lovely to see some of the animals free. The lemurs and the wallabies were a joy to see. A lovely day out.” –Jacky, United States
Full list of nominees: Johan Cruijff ArenA, Madurodam, ARTIS Zoo, Madame Tussauds
The Tiqets Remarkable Venue Awards were established to recognize and celebrate the best attractions and experiences in the most visited cities around the world. The first Tiqets RVAs was hosted in Paris in 2017, with winners including the Musée d’Orsay and Fondation Louis Vuitton. Now, Tiqets awards outstanding venues in six cities each year: Amsterdam, London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, and New York City.
A special thanks to our generous partners, Heineken and Henri Willig, who joined us in appreciating the Netherlands’ finest cultural venues. Once again, congratulations to everyone involved!
